Dhaka Int’l Film Festival 2024 screening Iranian films

The 22nd Dhaka Int’l Film Festival in Bangladesh is screening Iranian films.

The 22nd edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh has been screening a lineup of movies by Iranian filmmakers.

The gala began at the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Auditorium of National Museum in Dhaka on Saturday.

‘Fereshteh’ by Morteza Atash-Zamzam, ‘Number Ten’ by Hamid Zargarnejad, ‘The Gentleman’ by Hassan Keyqobadi, and ‘Green Plum Season’ by Ali Bayat are contending at the Asian Film Competition.

‘Ropewalker Memories’ by Hamed Rajabi, ‘Leather Jacket Man’ by Hossein Mirza-Mohammadi, ‘Butterfly Man’ by Mitra Rouhimanesh, ‘Mirjaveh’ by Arman Zarrinkoub, ‘Spraying’ by Ali Yavar, ‘Zapata’ by Danesh Eqbashavi, ‘Ali Vs. Ali’ by Alireza Rofougaran, and ‘Discreet Devotion’ by Mahtab Soleimani are being showcased at the Cinema of the World section.

Iran’s representatives at the Women Filmmakers Section are ‘Junks and Dolls’ by Manijeh Hekmat, ‘Pinto’ by Narges Abyar, ‘Sampo’ by Marzieh Riahi, and ‘Sayeh’ by Zeinab Harifi.

The Spiritual Film Section is hosting Iran’s ‘Parvin’ by Mir-Abbas Khosravinejad, ‘Seven Citrus Aurantium’ by Farshad Golsefidi, ‘Subtotals’ by Mohammad-Reza Farzad, and ‘Phoenix’ by Mohsen Nabavi.

‘Captain’ by Mohammad Hamzei and ‘Mahrokh’s Doll’ by Mojtaba Zare and Maryam Javaheri are on screen at the Children Films Session.

The Short & Independent Film Section is screening Iran’s ‘48 Hours’ by Azadeh Mousavi, ‘The Strait’ by Meqdad Jalali, ‘Fisherman’ by Mehdi Zamanpour-Kiasari and Manan Janbarari, ‘Angello’ by Ali Kianersi, ‘Waltz’ by Parto Eshraq, and ‘Soren’ by Sahar Shadlou.

The 22nd DIFF has been slated for January 20-28. Fatemeh Javahersaz, the film market manager of Iran’s Fajr International Film Festival is on the Interfaith Jury panel for the Spiritual Films Section.
